Oops, I somehow overlooked that…  Surprisedops: But it’s in my Favourites now, so it should present no more problems in the future! Thanks!

This is the upturned floor pan of the DSuper surface rust with only a couple of minor holes…I am very pleased… (apart from the boot floor though)
The cill plate on the left has a 100mm corrosion line level where the inner boxing meets the floor. The outer cill plates are good apart from a little hole on the right section just below the B post.

Hi Nick,

How did you turn it over without distorting the upper structure of the frame, I always felt that part of the frame was rather weak!

The frame doesn’t look too bad, I have seen much worse.

Take care

I’d wondered about how the spaceframe was conceived. But that’s all getting quite a bit clearer! With your chassis being stripped for easy acces, would you mind taking pics of the inside of the sills?? Derk

Derk, besides the useful pics of Greeny, I think you will be interested in the site below where under CitroenDS/technical data/chassis/sills the construction and different parts of the sills are clearly visible.

Yes that does help, Gerardeux, thanks! I do have the parts books with all sorts of exploded views, but sometimes you just need to see the whole structure in stead of just the bits… And there is definitely some welding needed to the center supports inside the sills. No problem though… And my boot floor is 99,5% intact Mr. Green

A friend and myself turned it over I am fairly strong (ex rugby player) Shocked but it is not all that heavy, I felt rolling it would be dangerous so we flipped it over in one and gently put it on its roof which I hasten to add is not weak at all, it is basically an evenly balanced ring with 6 supports. I wouldnt put too much weight anywhere, like climbing on it, for instance though. I am doing the welding needed today and tomorrow and putting it back on its bottom on saturday after rust treating all the bare metal

Windows

Today I have experienced removing everything from the doors including the glass, The handles and trim were pretty straight forward but the Glass was a different story. The first one took me half an hour, the second 20mins, the 3rd and 4th about 10mins Cool I used a flat piece of steel to unhook the glass from the sprung bar of the mechanism but I am sure there must have been a tool for it. If you ever have to remove/replace a door lock mechanism you will have to remove all the glass and runners first Rolling Eyes

Alternate solution: go to the gendarmerie, ask if they have locked away a car-jacker, and ask him how he enters cars without smashing the (side) windows .....
