For all you sad DS fans what is this?
I got quite excited about it as it defines something in the DS manufacturing history

We do these things not to escape life but to prevent life escaping us
It was only a light hearted test question I was nt going to claim it came from outer space or anything.
The process has been written in every book I have read on DSs
Yes I am sure we can all guess it is “swarf” but something is done in the build of a DS that produces this specifically in one area and I found it sealed up inside.
God you lot can be so serious

Why? I thought a little lightheartedness is good for the soul and the forum.
I am not fooling around it was actually something I found.

there’s a time to be serious and there’s time to have fun and be full with lightheartedness.
my gues is that if online in public a dutchman in general is more serious.
they have on the forum als a’Cafe topic…there they fool arround, and not so serious chissmus…

Hey Greeney,
We are not all that serious. But I think that as most things that are written down are generally taken more seriously then normal conversation that is even more true for thnigs written down in another language. And subtle humour is lost easily. Still I for instance would like to know where you found that piece in your DS. Or did you find it in a bucket with a sticker on it that read “Alfa Romeo Spider 1991”.
(Sorry imported humour from Top Gear)
Firstly I put it here as it is ONLY DS related but also as I dont speak dutch most titles of subject do not mean an awful lot to me.
BUT for all you serious ones I will end it now and so I don’t have to make you suffer, I wont bore you with my postings any longer.
It has been documented in the DS books that during the manufacturing process when the floor has been put together from all the various parts and the sub structure is ready to be fitted it is called “the body in white”. During this time the body is placed on a jig and to make sure the geometry of the rear suspension units are correct for the alignment of the body, the HOLES where the trailing arms are to fit are reamed at the same time.
I found this reaming swarf in the boxing sealed in, even if removal had taken place at sometime in its life it would have never been found as the boxing is too deep to get too. It was only due to the fact I turned the chassis over on a jig that they fell to the “top” of the boxing and became accessible.
I thought it very interesting as it was left over from 35years ago untouched.
Maybe I should be a little more serious and a little less sad ops:
