I started dismantling my Traction today to find to my great surprise that it was NOT originally black but a light blue It is a 1953 11B, even the carpet under the dash board is a light blue with blue piping but the rest has been changed.
I understand in 1953 citroen offered “iceland blue” and “heather grey” does anyone have something as a colour reference I dont know which one it is
Thank you

Welcome home!
According to my books, 1953 had blue RAF (code AC130), gris perle (code AC126) and of course noir (AC201).
So it must be that blue RAF.

Or it was painted blue in the factory on special order as was quite common in those days.

How is that with yours, Graddus? What colour is that one? Is that the gris métallisé? Or is it a custom job?
Thank you Wendela/John for the codes I will take a look at the those
I didn’t realise that it was possible to choose a colour?
I have hardly even started and I have an early dilemma now, do I go for good old Black, original colour or my own… wheres my adobe photoshop

Black’s a bit boring, don’t you think? If she was originally that bleu RAF, I would go for that, since it’s a rather unique colour, only being used for one year. If it’s that colour, that is.
While we are on the subject
The chrome wheel trims are “all chrome” werent they supposed to be painted around the outside, and the front grill is all chrome and not body coloured around the outside I thought maybe it was an after market as the chrome has peeled off and doesnt look very good quality very thin.
Could they have come from a “Six” or were they bigger?

I don’t know about Tractions, but looking at that list with colours, the wheels could have been in ivoire (code AC113).
However, in another book I see, that the car in bleu RAF has te trims also in bleu RAF… confusing.
About the grill, I haven’t got a clue, but all pictures off 11’s show a black one.
France, I live here permanently now

The question was about the car, not about you.
The car is French.
I answered the question, I said FRANCE (comma)
This is a picture from the Cats site
It is indeed the iceland blue or L’islande Bleu

And that’s the colour your car has been? That hasn’t been original then. :
Trims are not even in that ivoire, I think and the wheels a darker shade of blue. Confusing, these Tractions. You’re lucky the mechanics are much more easy.
Yes the Iceland blue was optional from July 1953 to 55
I have removed all the interior including the headlining and under that it is that blue, which says it was thus from the factory, as it had never been removed before.
As I said the trims look aftermarket or other as they are all chromed.
The wheels themselves have been repainted I will look tomorrow to find out original colour
Photos tomorrow

This was the only bit of original carpet left
This is the evidence, the darker colour was the original at some time it was painted a light blue then black
I thought these looked good
